Medieval II: Total War™ App Reviews

Medieval ii was a game I really enjoyed and frankly I was waiting for it to come out for macs for some years now Thankfully I wasn’t let down by Feral! they did a great job! I really enjoy the graphics which I can say are great for me even though I meet the minimum requirements!

I Applaud Feral for bringing this game to Mac - and I encourage them to bring more, as I love the Total War series. However, this version is just a bit more tired than I would have expected. Guess I was spoiled by the Shogun series - a much better value for your money. If you must have this one, note that the game works perfectly - no system issues whatsoever.

This is a game that I was obsessed with when I was younger, and it still has all the components that will make you rage quit. Shogun II on the other hand was also a very fun game, but for me I like the Medieval Ages and if you do too then Get This Game. Runs Smoothly on 2015 IMAC!

I’ve been playing total war for years. I enjoyed warhammer and lord of the rings mod on PC. Hope can play more mods on Mac.

Took over a day to download, but boy let me tell you, it was so worth it. I’ve been playing for the past 6hours.. that should tell you enough

I bought this game and thought that after years of people reporting bugs and faults with the system that they would have fixed them, not the case!!!

This is by far the best Total War of all the series, but until tonight it has only been available on PC. I have yearned for a mac port of this classic since I switched from PC to mac. I have owned all of the series except for medieval 1 and napoleon, I recently bought Attila with Charlemagne expansion from a rival download company just to get a taste of what medieval II used to be on a PC- only now to find Medieval 2 just released for the Mac! The graphics are better than I remember on the PC (of course my current Mac is much more powerful than my 2009 PC). The cut scenes are fluid. Although this is version 1.0 of the port, so far its stable. The newer TW series may be pretty but they have been terribly glitchy, and not fully developed at release. Medieval 2, though old is perfection in gameplay AI and tactics. No freaking in app purchases necessary like the newer releases, this is complete. Do yourself a favor and get this. Best of TW series, IMO #1 THIS, #2 Shogun 2, #3 Rome 1. If only creative could make the newer total wars as polished as this….

No need for wineskin anymore. Thansk Feral Interactive. This is the best of the Total War Series. Like the other reviewers, I have been waiting for this for quite awhile. No matter what newer games I may purchase, I always come back to this one and Rome Total War (Original and NOT the second). Sega should have kept to this one as the standard for the other games in the series to follow. You will not be disappointed with this game.

Won;t download properly

my download sais it is paused but it wont start back up

It’s not dowloading properly I am always getting an error message...

I have been waiting for this port for YEARS!!! Many many kudos to Feral Interactive for pushing this one through! I loved this game back on my old 2007 ASUS laptop and I still love it to this day! It runs FLAWLESSLY on my 2014 Macbook Pro and looks awesome! I have been a fan of the Total War series for almost 10 years and it is great to finally have this one in my Mac library. Rome II Total War Emperor Edition and Medieval II Total War are by far my all time favorites! Now we need to get a GOOD port (Steam’s Mac port of Attila is GARBAGE DO NOT BUY!!) of Atilla Total War done correctly via the App Storewith all the expanisons available. Thank you for this holiday treat! **UPDATE** If you are having issues downloading this app sign out from the app store..sign in...then select Check for unfinished downloads under the Store tab(it’s at the bottom). That should solve your problems if you are having download issues!****

The download takes about 32 Hours initially and then about 6 hours into the download, it fails. After attempting to restart, it is then stuck on pause. What a waste. I will be seeking a refund.

Install Button doesnt even work off of the App Store Page

Got to around 70% downloaded, then failed. Can’t resume the download because of a diskspace error, apparently a 30gig game needs over a terrabyte of free space?

It wont download, it says paused and wont continue. has anyone figured out how toget it to resume the download?

It took 3 days for this game to download ,but it runs smoothly It is worth time and effort to download it. The game is a blast to play.

At long last, M2TW has come to the Mac! I’ve been a devoted fan of the Total War franchise since the original Shogun, but switched to the Mac about six years ago. I was thrilled when Feral released Rome Total War for the App Store, and just about fell off my chair yesterday when I discovered M2TW in the Store as well! I downloaded the game in about 2.5 hours (40 Mb connection) and started it right up with no problem. Back in 2006, I was running this game on a powerful HP “gaming laptop”, but even then it was slower on High graphics settings. Surprisingly, I can run the game on my new 2015 MacBook 12inch at High settings, with no noticeable lag at all. Amazing! So far, it works perfectly! As for a review of the game itself, if you are a fan of medieval history and fantasize about the clash of swords and armor, charging knights on horseback, catapults hurling flaming pitch, massive armies marching across Europe, and enjoy a grand strategy game, then look no farther than this. M2TW (and it’s older brother, Rome Total War) are epic in scope, fun to play, and challenging enough to keep you playing, but not so hard you get frustrated and want to give up. A word of warning: These games are majorly time-consuming….plan on spending a least 1-2 hours per gaming session, and, as is often the case for me, find yourself saying “just one more turn...” at 2am!
